About this place
A short walk through a quiet residential pocket of Tabata leads to a domestic doorway. Ring the intercom, step inside, and slip off your shoes before heading up to the second floor, where an inviting space opens toward views of the rail lines. Cafe North Light lives up to its name, offering a tranquil tea-room setting where large windows look out over Shinkansen bullet trains and regular commuter lines running below.
The hot hand-drip coffee here arrives in a glass carafe holding about 2 cups, designed for leisurely sipping as trains glide past outside. Hot black teas—such as Ruhuna and Dimbula—are also served generously by the pot, while cold-brew iced coffee and iced tea offer crisp, clean alternatives.
For an accompaniment, baked treats include Grenoble, a warm walnut-rich meringue cake, and a refreshing lemon cake made with citrus juice in both the crumb and icing. The sweet lineup also features a baked cheesecake accented with blueberry compote and whipped cream, alongside rotating daily selections that reward repeat visits.
Shelves stocked with rail-themed books and picture books invite quiet afternoons of solo reading, while also providing a gentle backdrop for families taking a break to watch the trains together.
